A new batch of manufactured high pressure hydrogen fluid system assemblies were recently gas tested in our multifunctional test pit.
We welcomed an engineering inspector from British Engineering Services, witnessing the testing – looking very smart, might we add, decked out in brand new PPE.
Pressure testing the assemblies includes activating and isolating multiple parts of the assembly allowing for pressures ranging from 200 bar to almost 800 bar to be carefully flowed through and then held at pressure through dedicated streams and regions.
A blended mix of high pressure nitrogen and helium is used to validate the component parts to be able to identify any potential leaks due to the interchange of fittings and fabricated subassemblies.
The hydrogen fluid assemblies are designed by specialist developers of innovative technologies able to refuel, store and distribute hydrogen conveniently and economically. The company is well-underway with enabling the rapid, low-cost deployment of mobile hydrogen refuelling stations needed to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen powered vehicles.
The high pressure assemblies are manufactured by Orbital Fabrications, a leading manufacturer of gas and fluid handling systems with a long history of working in custom-designed fabrications.
