Here we have (pictured) high pressure refuelling gas panel assemblies being set up and safely prepared for testing – with a substantial amount being produced for future testing.
Our experienced test engineers carefully position and connect the assemblies in our multi-functional safety-enclosed test pit, with a combination of nitrogen and helium gas used as the test media for validating the assemblies’ capabilities and identifying any potential leaks.
Specific test procedures are initiated on the assemblies which includes controlling various stepped and ramped pressures, holding stable pressures over set lengths of time and at various intervals, along with reducing pressures, ranging from 200 bar to over 700 bar.
Pressure testing also includes activating and isolating multiple parts of the assembly allowing for sequences of certain pressure ranges to be held and then flowed through dedicated streams and regions, ensuring all the joints, bends, fittings, connections and components are tested according to specified instructions.
The assemblies have been designed by specialists who develop innovative technologies for refuelling, storing and distributing hydrogen conveniently and economically and are well underway with enabling the rapid, low-cost deployment of the support infrastructure needed to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen powered vehicles.
The designs have been manufactured into high pressure systems by Orbital Fabrications, a leading manufacturer of gas and fluid handling systems. Their expert third-party notified body British Engineering Services have been with us at our pressure testing facility to carry out the necessary inspections to provide the essential documentation required, ensuring the pressure systems are safe and compliant with current relevant legislation.
Our test engineers provide a full documentation pack including a test certificate, test engineer’s report and test chart data.
