
Our multi-functional test pit is quickly filled with water so critical components can be submerged and gas tested with internal pressures up to (1689 bar) 24,500 psi.
We welcomed Secc Oil and Gas Ltd, an established proven innovator and developer of intelligent subsea connector technology. Secc’s technology enables the safe and secure transfer of fluids during well intervention operations. It is utilised by major operators and service companies globally. Designing full-bore, pressure balanced, autonomous dry-break emergency-quick-disconnect systems (EQD) that will seal on disconnect thus protecting the environment from any potential spill and the topside and subsea assets.
The breakaway connectors were subjected to and passed a submerged gas test (API6A PSL3G). The test includes testing the components to specific pressures and pressure holds, with nitrogen gas used as the test media. The connectors are also tested whilst they’re mated and then de-mated, with both sides of the connector tested simultaneously.
At 2.5 metres deep by 3 metres in length and 2 metres wide, the test pit accommodates a range of subsea technology and components for testing such as valves, seal assemblies and connectors, along with facilitating components for new research and development testing.
Equipped with our 7.5 tonne overhead crane, equipment is carefully lowered into position for testing within our below-ground concrete reinforced, blast-proof enclosed test pit. The fully automated pressure control system has data logging and recording capabilities and accurately subjects the components to high gas pressures to identify any potential leaks.
Our facility and team of experienced pressure testing engineers are available to help and ensure equipment is compliant with customer and relevant industry standards. A full documentation pack including a test certificate, test engineer’s report, test chart data and video recordings of the tests are provided.
