Our test engineers undergo hydrostatic pressure testing, subjecting prefabricated pipework to high pressures.
The high volume of various lengths and configurations of pipework range from 200mm up to 7 metres. All require internal hydrostatic pressure applied to them of up to 330 bar (4,786 psi) and held for a set period to detect any potential leaks from any welded joints and bends.
The many pipework configurations are all job specific. Before testing, they require our test engineers to fit the relevant flanges to blank and seal the pipework ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 inches in diameter, along with the suitably rated bolts and seals.
A leading Manchester-based fabricator, manufacturing products for various sectors, including renewable energies, aerospace, defence, rail and other engineering companies, has manufactured the fabricated pipework.
The carbon steel pipework assemblies are placed into our environmental chamber, so the internals is dried out before they’re all dispatched to the customer for finishing.
Our pressure test facility and experienced engineers provide the test cells and test bays to conduct hydro-testing in a controlled, safe, secure environment.
A full documentation pack is provided, including a test certificate, test engineer’s report and test chart data.
